Yoga 101: Building a yoga practice from the ground up.

In addition to learning and practicing foundational yoga asanas (poses), students will explore the other seven limbs of yoga, the three jewels of Buddhism, and mantra meditation.  By the end of the weekend, students will feel more comfortable with their own personal practice on the mat, and also with participating in a neighborhood yoga class.

Yoga 101 topics include:
– The Eight Limbs of Yoga: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, and Samadhi
– The Three Jewels: The Buddha (the teacher), The Dharma (the teachings), and the Sangha (spiritual family)
– Mantra Meditation
– And more!

About the Instructors

AnandaMa Sims

Yoga & Meditation Teacher, ERYT 500

AnandaMa Sims has been practicing and studying subtle energies from a young age, her mother being her first teacher. During part of her journey, she fell in love with the physical part of yoga. While completing her initial ShambhavAnanda Yoga teacher training she realized there was a need for people who were curious about yoga but hesitant to step into a class because they didn’t feel they were bendy enough. AnandaMa makes yoga accessible for every body. If you can breathe, you can practice yoga. She is an RYT-500, ERYT-200, and has completed Levels 1, 2, and 3 ShambhavAnanda Yoga  meditation teacher trainings. AnandaMa teaches yoga and meditation, guiding others to live a more mindful and skillful life in Evergreen, Colorado at Studio B Evergreen.

YaDevi Shellenberger

Yoga & Meditation Teacher, ERYT 500

YaDevi Shellenberger has done all her yoga teacher trainings at Shambhavananda Yoga’s ashrams and is a member of the school’s spiritual community. Elements of her teaching style are curiosity, enthusiasm and innovative approaches to the yoga asanas. She especially loves inviting students to confidently grow into their own personal between safe movement and trying challenging poses. When she’s not doing what she loves most—yoga—she helps her husband with their beekeeping business, cooks delicious meals for friends, writes poetry and plays with her three cats.
