Silent Meditation Retreat

February 28-March 2

Price: $100 plus accommodations

3-Day Silent Meditation Retreat

A 3 day silent meditation retreat in the Colorado mountains deepens the practice of mindfulness, heightening one’s awareness of the present moment, inviting contemplation and reflection, and fostering a deeper connection with oneself and the natural world.

The absence of verbal communication, combined with the peacefulness of the surroundings, enhances the meditative experience. It encourages participants to turn inward, cultivating a sense of inner peace and emotional resilience. Physically, the retreat offers an opportunity to rest and recharge, with the added benefit of being surrounded by nature, which is known to reduce stress and improve overall well-being. As autumn shifts into winter, we are gently reminded of the cycles of nature and the importance of stillness in personal growth. We welcome you to join us.

Guidelines for Silent Meditation Retreat:

  • Silence will be observed for the entirety of the retreat, except for opening and closing meals, orientation, and chanting in the temple.
  • Nonverbal communication, including eye contact, is discouraged.
  • Electronics and media, including phones and books, will not be permitted in common spaces and are discouraged in private accommodations.
  • Punctuality is expected at all programs so as not to disturb other guests.
  • Participants are encouraged to cultivate an attitude of solitude.

Yoga and Meditation instructors will speak the minimal amount required to teach. Staff will be available for short, private conversation in case of any concerns.

About the Instructor

Kalika Fortin

Kalika Fortin first came to Shoshoni in 2005, where she served on staff while completing her 200-hour yoga certification and advanced asana certifications. Moving from the conservative mid-west, Kalika enjoyed immersing herself in a new and beautiful world of meditation, service, and devotional chanting. Captivated by the sweet, calming energy of the morning chants and the lively evening kirtans, it became clear that bhakti yoga was her path. She enjoyed several years in Shoshoni Yoga Retreat’s resident band, Shiva’s Garden, before forming The Pushpams with Mira Gale and Kumara Etzel.

Kalika now calls Shoshoni Yoga Retreat home again and loves sharing music and yoga practice with others. Her yoga teaching style integrates gentle breath awareness techniques with a flow of yoga postures designed to strengthen and stretch the body while maintaining a meditative focus. She has shared music at several yoga festivals, including the Hanuman Festival, Denver Chant Fest, and Bhavapalooza. She has shared the stage with kirtan artists Dave Stringer, C.C. White, Girish, David Newman, and Govindas & Radha. Her music has been featured on New World Kirtan and Wild Women Rising.

The scenery is gorgeous with hiking all around, staff is excellent, the food is delicious, the temples are beautiful, the yoga is great and relaxing, and the cabins are clean and nice. I always feel so peaceful there and the meditation is wonderful. It’s a very spiritual place and wonderful for decompressing from city life and for getting back to your true self.
