Silent Meditation Retreat
Experience the power of a Silent Meditation Retreat with the Shoshoni community. We believe that all aspects of life offer the opportunity to grow spiritually. The change of the seasons is a perfect time to retreat, to turn awareness from the external aspect of life and dive inwards to the source of our being. Daily meditation practice and mindful, conscious living provide the tools to living a creative and fulfilling life. These skills are cultivated during a retreat so that they may integrate with and enrich our daily lives.
Guided silent meditation sessions and hatha yoga classes are rooted in the Shambhava Yoga® tradition, instructed by experienced teachers and ashram residents. Meditation programs take place in our temples, meditation shrines filled with sacred art from India and Tibet. With over 25 years of daily practice in our temples, Shakti, or spiritual energy, permeates the atmosphere and uplifts everyone’s practice. Participants are asked to wear nicer clothes to meditation sessions. Temple dress code: please no jeans, shorts, or sweat suits.
While silence is maintained during the retreat, daily question and answer sessions are an opportunity for guidance and support.
Enjoy walking meditation through our beautiful rocky mountain grounds: pine and aspen forests, rock formations and a small pond. During free time, you may choose to explore Shoshoni’s hiking trails ranging from easy to moderate, with views of local 13,000 foot peaks and the Continental Divide.
Vegetarian meals from our organic gardens are a highlight of a Shoshoni retreat, nourishing us from the inside out. After lunch, join the community in seva, or selfless service to offer mindful work (usually dishes, sweeping, gardening).
Choose your accommodation ranging from dorm to private cabin and cottage.
