Cooperative Retreats offer an immersive ashram experience. Choose from a variety of accommodations, and join a community of dedicated yogis for daily meditation, yoga, meals, and seva.
Learn More About Seva
Seva, or karma yoga, is a core practice in the ShambhavAnanda Yoga tradition. Also known as selfless service, seva is yoga-in-action as you work to be present with a particular task at hand. It is a priceless skill for a fulfilling life, because it teaches practitioners how to work with a sense of open-heartedness and shared purpose in support of community. Seva will be based on the daily needs of Shoshoni rather than personal preference and could include, but is not limited to:
- Helping with clean-up after at least one meal per day (washing dishes, sweeping the dining room, wiping down tables)
- Cleaning common spaces and bathrooms (toilets, showers, floors and surfaces)
- Outdoor work (raking, painting, stocking wood, minor maintenance)
- Laundry (washing and folding sheets and towels)
- Working in the gardens (weeding, harvesting)
- Meal prep (washing and chopping veggies)
- Freshening your own accommodations prior to check-out (stripping beds, taking linens and towels to laundry, taking out trash and recycling)

The ashram retreat schedule is fully optional, except for required seva from 1-2pm on Saturday.
Two meditation classes – Evening classes offer a variety of approaches to meditation in the ShambhavAnanda Yoga™ tradition, including guided silent meditation techniques, kirtan and arati, mantra repetition, and more. In the morning, choose between the beautiful hour-long Guru Gita Chant and silent meditation in the Main Temple, or the powerful Vedic Yajna Ceremony in the Fire Temple.
Two yoga classes – Hatha Yoga in the ShambhavAnada Yoga™ tradition is more than physical exercises; it is part of a comprehensive system that can lead to the experience of the innate perfection within each of us. ShambhavAnanda Yoga Asana™ begins with a strong foundation in body awareness and alignment, then moves deeper, allowing you to explore your own personal experience of yoga through inner focus and surrender. Creative hatha and vinyasa approaches make this practice available for beginner through advanced level practitioners. Includes instruction in pranayama and meditation.
Three vegetarian meals – Our kitchen happily accommodates gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan diets; that’s the benefit of serving delicious food that is made fresh daily with organic ingredients and Shoshoni garden produce.
Free Time – Take advantage of Shoshoni’s many amenities. Hike miles of on-property trails, relax in a hammock, soak in the hot tub, or sweat it out in the sauna. Enjoy access to art supplies and simple art projects.
